The three retirement pillars

  • Basic Retirement Pension (BRP) — universal at 60, paid by government.
  • PRGF — employer-funded, 2% of monthly remuneration, portable across jobs.
  • Occupational pension — voluntary top-up scheme.

PRGF mechanics

  • Applies to every employee (except public sector, statutory bodies, or those already on a comparable private scheme).
  • Employer contributes 2% of monthly remuneration to the MRA-administered PRGF.
  • Balance vests with the employee and is portable when changing jobs.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Do expatriate employees benefit from PRGF?

Non-citizens are outside PRGF; employers typically make an equivalent contractual gratuity arrangement instead.
